Group Classical Guitar Lessons on Santa Fe Dr.

Group Guitar Lessons Denver, CO Craig Winston Classical Guitarist

I'm excited to announce a new series of group classes for Classical Guitar I am offering on the last Sunday of each month, beginning in January 2026.  These drop-in, one-hour classes will let us focus on specific skills that we often don't have time to cover in depth during lessons and will be excellent booster courses for anyone looking to expand their musicianship. Group Classical Guitar Lessons are held at my studio in Denver.

Classical Guitar Technique  - Group Guitar Lesson Denver

A progressive course covering technical aspects of playing guitar, from beginning fundamentals and exercises, to scales, arpeggios, and advanced skills like trills for both hands and tremolo. We will explore some technique manuals as well, such as "Pumping Nylon" by Scott Tennant and "Kitharologus" by Ricardo Iznaola. All levels of players are welcome; the first few courses will involve minimal note reading.

Music Theory for Guitar - Group Guitar Class Denver

A music theory class exploring practical applications for guitarists.  This is a group guitar lesson that can benefit players of any genre! We will start with music theory fundamentals and progress through deeper concepts of harmony. We will learn to use the guitar as a music theory calculator and to use theory to quickly learn repertoire and improve our songwriting and composition skills.  Further, we'll touch on concepts in Baroque and Jazz improvisation, discussing how music theory informs performance there. This course will differ greatly from a standard theory class in that we will use guitar specific examples to help you immediately understand concepts and map the fretboard with theory in mind. The only requirements are an ability to read at least single line melodies and a willingness to get a bit nerdy.

Sight Reading Skills - Group Guitar Lesson Denver

A group guitar class focused on improving everyone's sight reading and collaborative ensemble skills. Gain reading skills that you can apply to any style of guitar playing. This oft under-practiced skill is among the best ways to improve as a guitarist. Each month we will read through several pieces composed for solo, duo, trio or guitar ensemble as a group. Everyone will play together, with no judgement. Selections will be progressive based on the group's overall skill, and by the end of each session we will have at least one piece that we will have at performance level within the hour. This will be a fun, social class giving you the opportunity to meet and play with other guitarists while sight reading and exploring new music.

I hope one (or all) of these courses interests you.  You can sign up through the calendar below or find out more about group lessons and one on one guitar lessons here: https://craigwinston.net/guitar-lessons.

At the moment, all group guitar classes will be in person at my studio in Denver. Stay tuned for announcements about remote participation.
